Football fans should prepare for an unusual schedule this week. While Tuesday and Wednesday nights are the traditional home for European competition, there are Champions League games today, Thursday, September 10.
UEFA adjusted the calendar for this opening week to ensure the Champions League remains the sole focus. By scheduling no Europa League or Conference League matches during this period, the governing body has created an exclusive window for the premier competition.
Understanding the Thursday Fixtures
This deviation from the standard midweek format is temporary. The Europa League will observe its own exclusive week on Wednesday, September 16, and Thursday, September 17. Following this initial period, the Europa League will revert to its standard Thursday night slot starting from the second matchday.
Tonight’s Matchup Highlights
Several high-profile teams are in action during this evening’s slate of six matches. Manchester United host Azerbaijani side Sabah at Old Trafford, while Bayern Munich face Bodo/Glimt at the Allianz Arena. Additionally, Champions League debutants Como take on RB Leipzig.
Full Schedule for Thursday, September 10
